INTERSOS is currently looking to recruit qualified national staff for the position of:
Hygiene Promotion Coordinator
Job site Aden, with daily travel to Abyan
Reporting to Project Manager
Status Contract – full-time for 4 months
Starting date Immediate
PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE:
The Hygiene Promotion Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination, under the supervision of the Project Manager (PM), in accordance with INTERSOS’ mandate, priorities and donor agreement. To work closely with communities in establishing WASH and sanitation facilities in the fields, promote good hygiene practice in communities in order to reduce the risk of water and sanitation related communicable diseases, and coordinate with stakeholders wherever required.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Providing guidance to the INTERSOS’ team, including staff and volunteers, working on operational issues related to the conduct of activities;
• Planning and coordinating with the team for all activities, including assessments, referrals, awareness-raising, and others.
• Conducting frequent monitoring field visits to closely supervise the INTERSOS protection team and ensure proper implementation of project activities;
• Monthly reporting and per request, to PM, authorized managers and donor, on the implementation progress, and providing recommendations for activities quality improvement and project sustainability;
• Assisting the PM in any (other) issues related to the project.
• To conduct WASH assessment on targeted area;
• To demonstrate the use of WASH specific items which need special knowledge for operation and maintenance, especially when using chemicals (i.e. water purification
tablets, water treatment equipment);
• To conduct participatory approach in promoting good water, sanitation, and hygiene practices in targeted area;
• To conduct participatory monitoring of water and sanitation facilities usage and maintenance with community.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• University degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Development, or other relevant field
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office
• Prior experience with an international NGO;
• Familiarity with overall protection and protection concepts and principles;
• Excellent command of (written and spoken) Arabic and English;
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
