Position: OTP NURSE (MOBILE TEAM)
Location: Zahra, Lahaya district (Hodeida) and Alqabeta district (Lahj). (with 100% travel to the target communities)

Background:  
The Development Program Division closely works with country program team in identifying, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development projects and program in collaboration with local, national and international partners. 
It focuses on the Recovery and Development of strategic areas and support communities to develop a sustainable livelihood, coherent Islamic micro finance system, food security, water sanitation, social cohesion and community based infrastructure projects to support communities affected by conflict, civil war, natural and man-made disasters. The overall objectives of the development division are to alleviate poverty and suffering of human kinds   by providing them with long term sustainable program in collaboration with international donors, INGOs and UN agencies.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

Job Responsibility #1: Plan and organize OTP activities in liaison with Mobile Team Leader
•    Schedule the OTP day in close coordination with the MoPHP staffs
•    Estimated medicine & RUTF requirements for each site on time and distributed to intended beneficiaries.
•    Compile screening data in targeted areas in collaboration with the MoPHP staff and the CHVs to collect total beneficiary figures.
•    Ensure appropriate referrals take place between the project components
•    Ensure OTP medical protocols are followed 

Job Responsibility #2: Conduct Mobile OTP activities in the target community
•    Screening of under fives and perform health screening of all severely malnourished children as per the guideline for admission in OTP.
•    To take the history of a malnourished patient, conduct clinical and physical examination, 
1.    Fill the OTP card, provide treatment for sick children and give appointment as per the protocol 
2.    Refer those with major risks and medical complications immediately. 
•    Examine the patients every week and record all the progress on their cards.
•    Ensure that all the newly identified severely malnourished children without medical complication and patients already admitted in the OTP receive routine medications as per the guideline.
•    In collaboration with the MOPH EPI teams, assess the vaccination status and vaccinate all malnourished children against measles and provide vitamin A supplementation.
•    Ensure that all sick children get medical treatment according to the standard treatment protocol. Admit all the children discharged from inpatient care and all the newly identified severely malnourished children without medical complication to OTP.
•    Arrange transportation for those who are referred to SC or other areas in collaboration with the Mobile Team Leader or with the Nutrition Officer.
•    In collaboration with the Community Health Volunteers, provide health and nutrition education on the proper utilization of supplementary food, child feeding practices, causes of malnutrition, diarrhea and other related illnesses to the caretakers of the malnourished children admitted to OTP and to all others attending the program.
•    Calculate the quantity of therapeutic foods such as plumpy nut required for each distribution based on the number of children admitted in OTP.
•    Request the necessary drugs and other medical supplies required in each distribution for the OTP programme in collaboration with the Mobile Team Leader.
•    Train and supervise the Community Nutrition Workers on the screening/identification of malnourished children using MUAC and WFH measurements and follow up progress of those admitted in the OTP.
•    Investigate the causes of non-responding and refer children to Stabilization Centre (SC) 
•    Teach community volunteers how to disseminate key education messages within their communities and propagate messaging through other community channels
•    Work closely in coordination with the Mobile Team Leader, the government staffs and the rest of the team.
•    To prepare weekly and monthly statistical reports and give to the Mobile Team Leader.
•    To initiate timely tracing of defaulters through the community nutrition volunteers.
•    Perform any other duties requested by Mobile Team Leader and Nutrition Officer.

Job Responsibility #3: Ensure adequate availability of all medical and RUTF supplies for each distribution
•    Submit weekly reports including tally forms for the OTP statistics for each site
•    Through liaison with the community outreach/nutrition workers, provide effective follow up of all cases – particularly:
•    Ensure the prompt tracing of children who are absent from the programme 
•    Request specific children to be followed up as required (newly enrolled children, sick children, children not gaining weight, children with social problems etc.).


Requirements

•    Experience in community based emergency nutrition intervention preferably CMAM 
•    Good in English and fluent in Arabic.
•    Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
•    Previous experience working for NGOs is an asset 
•    Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas.   
•    Familiarity with program area is highly desired
•    Computer literate, especially MS Word and Excel
